Sailsmith Bags, LLC is a one man operation ran by myself, Anthony Christos Contakos. I am located in Southern Vermont. I construct each and every bag in my home shop using a mixture of new and old machinery.
My Business:
I strive to produce the finest quality bag of its type and welcome all comments or suggestions aimed at improving it’s functionality. I also conduct product testing to assure rock-solid construction. I stand behind my products with a 100 year warranty to give you piece of mind regarding your purchase.
Who I am:
I am a self employed stay at home dad of two boys ages 13 and 9. I live in Whitingham, Vermont with my wife and children and enjoy sailing and bicycling. I have always been interested in the out-of-doors and have had jobs ranging from Outward Bound to white water kayaking instructor. While earning my Bachelor’s degree from Marlboro College I actively worked for the Outdoor program running weekend and school break trips. Sewing has always been a part of my life as well, being taught to me by my mother at a early age. Much of my first outdoor gear was self made. I made my wife’s wedding dress when we were married in 2000. After many years as a carpenter and furniture maker, and after constructing our family home, I have turned back to the sewing machine to form Sailsmith Bags, LLC.
Where it all began:
Back in 1990 I built this bag that was the inspiration for Sailsmith Bags. Constructed out of a retired Outward Bound duffel, this ditty has seen several expeditions, and has served me well for many years. Now you can own a improved version of this gem to work on your own, equally distinctive “patina” of use.
